What is it with Toyota and their allergy to intermittent wipers? My work Yaris just has the one, nearly useless intermittent setting

My ‘08 Vibe had like six settings... 2014 base tacoma? Lol NO

I think that would be over your couch cushion supplemented budget anyways.

pretty easy swap.
part number 84652-02710
~$120 at dealer, less from TW members..

My Ls400 has approximately 1,000,000 speeds I can choose from.

I have 5 speeds. 9 if you count the rear wiper.

I miss that about my SC400. That shit was luxurious.

It doesn’t really matter in Tennessee though because the 3 storm settings are dry, water kicked up from tires, and hurricane. I only need three.

Probably related to the Yaris being one of the cheapest ‘yotas you can buy. Sienna has several settings on the intermittent.

My Accord goes from still-too-fast to why-don’t-you-just-turn-them-on-full-fuckass

Didn’t Mr. Regular say the intermittency controls are in the stalk itself? I’d imagine it’s a very easy swap.

Still, it seems silly on a 2015. That said, I don’t know if other current subcompacts have a better wiper situation. I would assume they do, since everything about the Yaris is pretty subpar

The best wipers I’ve ever had were on an E32, where you could set the timing of the intermittence

Don’t even get me started on the blower motor..

FWIW my 1986 Ranger base has intermittent wipers. And no settings, either. It’s on a rheostat.

Right now my wipers are intermittent regardless of the switch position. On... Or off... Damnit BMW

Forgot about that one. Then I have 13 speeds.

You should look into a stalk from another ‘yotoa that’ll work. I remember that’s what Mr. Regular said he did with his Echo, got one of an Avalon or something. Maybe a Tundra one would work?

every car I can think of does this. the ‘notches’ in the dial are usually just muscle memory markers, but in reality you can leave them between the notches at any point to fine-adjust the intermittance(sp)

My ‘95 4Runner has adjustable intermittents.
![]() 10/13/2016 at 15:51 |

Oh I’ve never even tried that. I’ve mostly driven BMWs, and they don’t have dials, at least on older ones. The way you set it is by holding the stalk up intil it says memory or something on the dash, and then release, and hold it again, and it starts wiping at whatever intermittence that was

Leave it to the germans to do it “better”
